Mobility as a Service (MaaS, mobility as a service) is a mobile device management platform through which users can access software and information over the Internet using a smartphone, tablet, etc., at any time and regardless of location. In a broad sense, MaaS is “transportation as a service”, when a vehicle is provided to the user upon request. An example is carsharing services.
MaaS is a way of organizing a service in which a user can access software anywhere using smartphones or tablets through a special platform. MaaS is rarely fully implemented in the current infrastructure, but this concept is being actively implemented.
The integration of MaaS into everyday life is evidence of the development of society, an increase in the pace of life. It is easier for the user to interact with the product directly, avoiding operational costs (in the case of cars, repairs).
Criteria for the success of MaaS implementation: accessibility of transport, quality of transport, intuitive interface of software designed to access services. Flexibility is what the user is willing to pay for.
The MaaS concept began to develop in a timely manner when the user had the need and the opportunity not to purchase their own transport. The European population buys fewer cars, sales fell by an average of 13%. These are not the consequences of the fading interest in the automotive industry. Transport is now perceived differently.
The MaaS provider assumes the transaction costs, the user pays for access. Special attention should be paid to security issues. Customers will be interested in a secure MaaS product. Perhaps the development of products as a service is due to the desire of users to get rid of unnecessary responsibility. In this case, the service provider needs to create the conditions under which the client will feel as safe as possible without losing comfort.
