IT infrastructure Analysis

IT infrastructure analysis is a study, inventory and evaluation of each “link” of an institution’s information system, usually with the aim of improving it.

Typical analysis tasks:

  • determine the level of viability of the IT infrastructure;
  • to set the level of current efficiency of system resources use;
  • get clear recommendations regarding bug fixes;
  • plan future activities to improve the IT infrastructure.

IT analysis can be attributed to a mandatory condition when concluding any cooperation agreement between a client and a company that provides IT outsourcing services.

The main components that are being analyzed:

  • equipment
  • network infrastructure
  • software
  • security system

Let’s look at each operation in more detail.

Equipment analysis

Examination and assessment of the condition of all equipment included in the infrastructure, as well as the workplaces of employees.

Network infrastructure analysis

Research and assessment of the state of corporate mail, IP telephony, as well as all other channels that provide communication between company employees and customers.

Software Analysis

Such a study includes many processes that affect not only the software, but also the hardware component of the system. It also includes research on all possible methods to protect the infrastructure:

  • antivirus software
  • inter-network communications
  • protection against hacking
  • creating a backup

In the process of such analysis, great attention is paid to all critical elements of information security. For example, the status of UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), the order of access to certain infrastructure nodes in case of any malfunction, etc. is evaluated.

Software Analysis

Assessment of the state of the software installed on the enterprise’s equipment for compliance with the goals of a particular enterprise, as well as determining the legality of its use (license verification).

As a result of such an IT audit, the following data can be obtained:

  • assess the overall state of the IT infrastructure
  • determine the amount of potential and used resources
  • identify the weaknesses and strengths of all elements of the system
