VMware is a company specializing in software development for virtualization and cloud computing. Such software allows you to divide the hardware elements of one computer into several virtual machines (VMS), each of which has its own operating system.
Virtualization increases the efficiency of using the existing computer equipment of the organization, which also allows you to increase the number of users served. VMware virtualization technologies are based on the open source ESX/ESXi hypervisor in the x86 architecture.
What is a virtual machine?
A virtual machine, or VM, is a computing resource used by software instead of a physical computer. Using virtual machines, you can deploy applications and run programs. In addition, VMs can safely access virus-infected data.
The VMware hypervisor is responsible for separating guest operating systems, which allows them to work independently from the rest. The second type of hypervisor used in VMware Workstation allows you to run one operating system on top of the host one.
There are two types of virtual machines:
